Mad Apple is Cirque du Soleil’s boldest departure yet a high energy mashup of acrobatics live music dance and comedy celebrating the chaos charm and charisma of New York City. Set in the iconic theatre at the New York New York Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip the show breaks the traditional Cirque mould to deliver something completely unexpected.

From the very beginning we were involved from pitch through concept development and creation shaping the show as a fully integrated live experience. Alongside developing the visual world we also directed and choreographed Mad Apple bringing together performance structure movement tone and pacing to create a contemporary variety show that feels fast unpredictable and alive with attitude.

Our role on Mad Apple encompassed direction choreography creative overview brand identity and launch campaign production design set and costume concepts and the overall art direction of the show. We also created and put together our trusted creative team bringing together designers makers and collaborators whose combined expertise shaped every aspect of the production from pitch through concept development to live performance.

This was not just another Cirque show. Mad Apple was built to disrupt. A variety show with attitude it needed a brand and a directorial voice to match a striking fashion forward visual identity rooted in New York street energy swagger and style. Direction focused on spotlighting performers as individuals allowing comedians musicians dancers and acrobats to coexist within a shared world rather than a traditional narrative structure.

Our design led approach created a seamless link between campaign and stage. Art Deco patterns gritty textures and irreverent iconography including a breakdancing Statue of Liberty distilled the show’s essence into instantly recognisable visuals. Each key execution featured a unique colour palette mirroring the diversity rhythm and energy of the acts within the show.

Beyond branding we developed projected visual content that actively shaped the performance environment supporting rhythm movement and comedy. We designed custom costumes including those for the acrobatic basketball act which also helped shape the merchandising strategy. The resulting merch line translated the show’s bold confident style into covetable keepsakes extending the experience beyond the theatre.
